CARNEGIE

Mr. Randy Turney (MrT) serves as the Superintendet for Carnegie Public Schools.

MrT is a 1998 graduate of Carnegie High School (Go WILDCATS! 🐾). He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education and Elementary Education in 2001 and Master’s Degree in Educational Administration in 2006, both from SWOSU in Weatherford. 

He began his teaching career in Elk City as a sixth grade special education teacher in 2001, and after ten years in the classroom, accepted the Principal position at Elk City Intermediate in 2011, where he served as the administrator for Elk City’s fourth, fifth, and sixth graders for six years. He returned to his hometown of Carnegie in July of 2018 after being selected by the Board of Education to be the principal at Carnegie Middle School, home to Carnegie’s sixth, seventh, and eighth grade Wildcats! Turney was chosen by the CPS Board to fill the role of District Superintendent begining with the 2022-2023 school year. 👨‍🏫 

During his time as an educator, MrT has received numerous awards. He was named Elk City’s District Teacher of the Year and Oklahoma Rising Star Teacher in 2009. He received a Governor’s Commendation for his work with Red Ribbon Week from Oklahoma Governor Brad Henry and was selected as the National Association of Special Education Teachers Outstanding Teacher of the Year in 2010. He was honored with a National Lifechanger of the Year Award of Excellence in 2017. 

His goal as an educator is to help every student and staff member to find success and realize their true potential. In his spare time, MrT enjoys spending time with his family, cooking, reading, and enjoying time with their four rescue pets; cats: Kit Kat & Mars and horses: Hersey and Twix!

MrT is proud to be a part of the hometown that helped raise him and to connect with the students, staff, families, and community members! MrT currently serves as the Carnegie Chamber of Commerce President and is active with the Carnegie Fair Board as the Prize Coordinator. 

MrT is joined in Carnegie by his wife, Kori and son, Grayson. Kori is a member of the staff at Carnegie Middle School serving as sixth, seventh, and eighth grade science teacher. Prior to her position at CMS, Kori spent 11 years teaching at Elk City Schools, most recently as the sixth grade Science and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Instructor. Grayson, age eleven, is a proud WILDCAT who will be in the sixth grade during the 2023-2024 school year! 🐾

MrT is the son of Patricia Turney of Carnegie and the late Ronnie Turney.
